Contributor access note
The MPS Engine metadata search is public and does not require an account. Contributors who want to add raw or processed data directly to PhysioVerse, such as omics, imaging, functional data, ZIP packages, metadata files, or supporting documents, must sign up or sign in. After signing in, contributors can create a dataset record, upload files, add metadata, link repositories, save drafts, submit records for review, and manage submission status from their dashboard.
Before you start
PhysioVerse uses a metadata-first submission workflow. Contributors first describe the dataset, system, modalities, files, metadata, access expectations, and provenance. This helps reviewers understand the submission and helps future users search and reuse approved records.
You can review the submission requirements before signing in. Creating a dataset record, uploading files, managing submissions, and sending a record for review require a PhysioVerse account.

The signed-in submission form is organized into a small number of practical sections. Some fields are required for search and review. More detailed sample, condition, treatment, dose, time point, and replicate fields are used when they apply to the study.
Title, description, contributor identity, institution, access level, data location type, and external repository links when applicable.
Multiple system categories and component/process descriptors so contributors are not forced into a single label such as organoid or organ-on-chip.
One or more modalities, modality-specific notes, assay context, measurement endpoints, and file-type expectations.
Optional sample or group rows for control, treated, dose, time point, replicate, and notes when those details apply.
Raw files, processed files, ZIP packages, metadata tables, experimental design files, data dictionaries, protocols, README files, and repository links.
Pre-review checks confirm that the record contains enough context for review, discovery, access decisions, and responsible reuse.
Flexible system description
Organoid, organ-on-chip, body-on-chip, tissue-chip, and related systems can overlap. The submission workflow allows contributors to select multiple system categories and describe the underlying components and processes, such as cell source, tissue context, materials, devices, culture process, perturbations, reagents, and modalities.
When an “Other” option is selected, contributors are asked to explain it so new or hybrid systems can still be described clearly.

A submission can include uploaded data files, complete ZIP packages, user-provided metadata files, or links to data already hosted in a public or institutional repository. Each file or link should be tied to the dataset record so the submission remains complete.
Provide raw data, processed outputs, images, omics files, assay tables, documents, or other research files.
Submit a complete package that may include data, sample metadata, README files, protocols, or supporting documentation.
Add sample tables, data dictionaries, experimental design files, methods documents, or other user-provided metadata.
Provide a public repository URL, DOI, accession number, persistent identifier, or institutional repository link.
After you begin
The submission remains editable while it is a draft. When the contributor is ready, the record can be sent for review. Review status, file records, manifests, pre-review checks, and curator notes stay connected to the same dataset record.

Anyone can review the submission requirements. An account is required to save a dataset record, upload files, manage submissions, download protected files, remove files, or send a submission for review.

The Microphysiological and Organoid Systems Standards Development Organization (MOSSDO) is a federally funded multi-stakeholder initiative focused specifically on establishing consensus-based standards for organoids, microphysiological systems (MPS), and body-on-a-chip technologies. MOSSDO develops frameworks for reproducibility, validation, and interoperability, enabling these platforms to be more reliably adopted across research, regulatory, and translational settings. In coordination with enabling ecosystem efforts such as PhysioVerse, MOSSDO provides the standards foundation that supports data integration, comparability, and broader field-wide adoption.
The Regenerative Manufacturing Innovation Consortium (RegMIC), founded in 2014, is a national initiative that brings together stakeholders from industry, academia, and government to advance the manufacturing, scale-up, and commercialization of regenerative technologies. Through cross-sector collaboration, RegMIC addresses key challenges in translation, including process development, regulatory alignment, and the establishment of best practices across cell, tissue, and advanced in vitro systems.
